Mikado

Hi my name is Mikado (aka Mickey) I am an umbrella Cockatoo. I am almost 3 years old. My Mom & Dad bought me when I was just a baby and handfed me until I was almost 1 year old, I still ate my pellets and seed mixture but I was not ready to be weaned off the really good stuff. I love to hear you sing and I can dance and display my beautiful feathers. I love hugs and kisses, but mom always said not too many because she said I still needed to be a bird! They even made a room so I can play and be a bird. I get really loud at night time just before bed, I want everyone to know it is quiet time and to cover me so I can get some sleep. Now to the really sad part, Mom and Dad had no idea when they got me how much dander I would produce, the more dander the healthier I am! But it was making my dad very sick to the point of he could not breathe. The doctors put him on steroids every 3-6 months and he was constantly hitting inhalers Albuterol, Combivant and Advair. They bought air purifiers, bathed me regularly and even paid to have the ducts cleaned in the house. They kept hoping it was not me that was causing the problems.  Mom was willing to suffer because she couldn't breathe either but Dad kept getting worse. Then Mom met CC and it was some sort of Divine intervention! I first stayed with CC so Mom and Dad could have their ducts cleaned and see if Dad would get better. Dad did and Mom came and got me. Well after a few weeks Dad got really bad again and they had to make a decision, I already knew where I wanted to be, with Celeste! Mom cried so hard that day when she said goodbye. But she still gets to see me and give me big kisses!

(note: DO NOT buy a cockatoo if you have extreme allergies or can't stand noise, these birds are very loud, but loving and need a stable home life. Before purchasing a cockatoo please do research them through the web.)
