Ziggy is a 10-year-old blue crown conure that I got from Connie
W. A year later I got Pepper and their cages were next to each
other in the bird room. I must have asked Pepper what she was doing
a lot, as whenever Ziggy sees me, she constantly asks "Whacha doin
Pepper?". It doesn't matter that I just answered her 10 seconds
earlier. She is another example of being careful what you wish for
when you want a bird that talks, as my example of "Whacha doin
Pepper?" "Mommy's cleaning Pepper's cage." "Whacha doin Pepper?"
"Mommy's cleaning Ziggy's cage." "Whacha doin Pepper?" "Mommy's
giving Cheeky some food.", etc. gets the point across, and sometimes
she'll say it loud enough for the kids to hear before she comes out
of her carrier.
(an addition to Kirby - Jon was in trouble for 1.5 years as Kirby
would grant permission for him to do something/go somewhere or make
promises that Jon would do something for me and neither of us
realized it was Kirby making the promise/granting permission until
one day we were outside the bird room and one of us asked the other
a question and Kirby answered correctly in the opposite voice; after
that we required two differing answers to any question just to be
safe.)
